"Best about camp, seeing people. The area, the hiking paths, the cabins, the lodge, meals, the fact that there was a river going through the area was really nice, made it a little cooler temperature-wise, and pretty!" - Kyra
"The food was awesome, I loved it!!!" - Shalee
"The food was AMAZING. Meat, tofu, salads, fruit, desserts, and snacks all the time! Scotty deserves a round of applause (which I think he got, at the end of the week) because everything was amazing!" - Abbi
"My overall camp experience was utterly fantastic. :-) I can't really describe it with words - how could one even begin to talk about the late nights, the companionship, the knowledge that the people around you were all amazing and alive?" - Jonna
"I Loved The Camp, it was a good time away from everyday life, and was full of fun people. I hope to go back next year." - Connor
"... There was a schedule of activities listed daily on a whiteboard. They were led by the counselors, by the campers, and by Laura. They were all optional. You could go to a few, or all of them, or none of them. But they were all so intriguing, how could you not go? And so the lodge was full of kids taking part in discussions of the Myers-Briggs personality types, of college, of long-distance friendships, of relationships with siblings. They met up for hikes to the waterfall, and kayaking, and swimming, and the zipline. They showed up for a couples-dancing workshop, a belly-dancing workshop, a zine-making workshop, and a two-hour soapstone carving workshop that ended up lasting two days as everyone kept going back to do one more...." taken from the post "Dispatch from Planet Unschooling" by Peggy Pirro, Parent Volunteer
"My overall experience at camp was really great. I could really tell that the staffers and volunteers were truly trying to make a comfortable and fun environment for everyone, and greatly exceeding that. You guys went above and beyond any other camp I've seen, which made my experience a great one" - Jessica, Jr. Staffer
"You went the extra mile on everything. The food wasn't just good and good for you, it was fantastic. The dance was awesome and so much fun, and you didn't even have to do anything like that. The thought and effort put into every decision and guideline made, making sure that absolutely nothing was arbitrary, was great.
I know that you couldn't imagine doing it any other way, but that doesn't make it any less wonderful and amazing that you did everything the way that you did. I think that a lot of people looked at this camp expecting something similar to any other unschooling gathering in existence. I don't think anyone will be making that mistake again. You have set yourselves apart from the rest from the very beginning, in a good way." - Dagny, Camp Mentor
"On the day of the water balloon fiasco (basically taking all day to fill up balloons that were gone in 5 minutes) we were all very hot so we took an impromptu trip up to the swimming hole…which was freezing and if you know me you know i don’t like anything freezing (except ice) but i was one of the first to get completely in! we were getting all cooled off and having a blast when it came time for abbi’s belly dancing workshop. a few headed back down but there were still a lot of people in the water. i told everyone that abbi was having her workshop now and that if most of us were swimming that not many would be at the workshop. it didn’t take much more than a few seconds before everyone collectively decided to postpone their water enjoyment to go down and be there for abbi. it still gets me emotional to think about that moment. how they all just knew how important it was to support their friend. these kids!! i love every one of them!!" - Laura, ETUSC Director
